Juan from Mexico contacted us because he is unable to determine the number of poles of a PM motor with 12 slots. Based on the sketch he sent, we reconstructed his original winding (see winding A).
We also added another diagram that we have encountered multiple times (winding B).
Several questions can be raised here.
For what number of poles is the first and second diagram intended, and what is the difference between them?

Several responses to the posted question have arrived.
Only Mich from Chicago, US, was correct.
The correct answer is:
both shown windings are identical and apply to PM motors with 10 or 14 poles. Therefore, the appearance of stator winding is the same for 10 and 14-pole PM motors with 12 slots. To determine exact number of poles in your motor, our regular customers already know, but for others, here is a link where it's already explained:
