How to determine poles of PM motor?

Important notice: When you are asking for the internal diagram for this kind of PM motors, it is mandatory to submit the number of rotor poles. Pay attention that number of poles is not always equal to number of magnets. Exact number of rotor poles can be determined using some small compass.

For example: this motor below looks like 12 pole motor but in fact using a small compass you'll count 48 poles.

Each piece of "magnet" has a 4 poles.
