It's good to know that we are capable of redesigning almost any standard three-phase, double-layer winding to a better one.
Number of slots per pole and phase (q) can be the whole or fractional number. This also applies to most asymmetric windings.
The "better one" means winding with higher winding factor and lower content of harmful harmonics.
Ultimately this means:
- less turns per phase (less copper) for given core and less heating in core, i.e. more efficiency as a result.
And notice: slot-filling is even across the stator.

After the redesign the winding factor is increased by 7,12 % and harmful harmonic-content is decreased by 33 %.
