Low-Speed PM motors
In service center practice, the number of low-speed permanent magnet (PM) motors is increasing daily.
Their key advantage is achieving low speeds without using a mechanical gearbox.
Choosing the winding configuration for such a motor is not straightforward, as it requires selecting a winding with the highest possible winding factor and the lowest THD (total harmonic distortion).
We have an analysis tool that allows for easy comparison and selection of the most optimal version.
Attached are two winding versions: 24 slots and 20 poles.
As a motor designer, which one would you choose?
Or perhaps a third option?
